The smell of cider and pine filled the house on Christmas Eve, and outside the world was coated in a clean layer of white snow. It was almost perfect, except sadness and anxiety hung thick in the air.

He silently watched the man who sat on the floor, listlessly putting wrapped packages under the sparkling tree. Xander knew Oz was trying his best for Paddy, who was long since in bed, but what the boy did not pick up on was painfully obviously to him. This Christmas draped over them both like a pall, knowing as they did the threats that remained to their safety, and the uncertainty of their future. But he had experienced enough bad holidays to know that he wasn't going to suffer through another one, not when he finally had a family to care about.

The local radio station was playing their non-stop holiday music thing, and suddenly Xander knew what to do. Walking over to Oz, he put out his hand and pulled him to his feet, then tucked him into his body like a puzzle piece. Xander started to sway as the strains of 'White Christmas' wafted from the speakers. He was no dancer, as the brief stint in Oxnard had proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, but this he could manage, and within a few moments Oz relaxed and nestled his head under Xander's chin.

"It's gonna be a good Christmas," Oz mumbled into Xander's robe, sounding very much like he was trying to convince himself more than anything, and it made Xander smile.

"Yes, it is," he replied, brushing a kiss across Oz's forehead and tightening his arms around that slender waist. And for once, Xander believed.

I know, some of you fell off your chairs when you read the subject line. But I never intended to give up on this fic, I just had RL issues over the summer and then, well, I couldn't seem to get past this chapter. I've rewritten it a bunch of times, tweaked it, thesaurased it, researched it by reading bad gay erotica, avoided it, and then avoided it some more. But I saw entrenous88 a few days ago and she gave me some good advice; just post it and move on. I already have chapters 14 & 15 written, hopefully they'll be up over the weekend. In the meantime, this chapter is purely smut, and not very good smut at that but I've given up. No plot whatsoever in this part, really.

Two things you definitely want included in your fic: Post Chosen and contentment. H/C is okay, so long as it's Spike that's hurt, and there is an equal blend of angst and humor. Wackiness is always of the good.
One thing you definitely *don't* want to see in your fic: Xander having his eye 'magiced' back. Xander waking up one morning deciding he is 'gay now' is baaaad. I know thats two things, but hey, I'm a rebel and I'll never ever be any good. oh yeah, the over domestication of Spike is very bad. done now.

Grace, Oz/Xander part 10
( He hated mirrors, and intentionally didn't have any in his apartment. This medicine cabinet reflected back lines of loss and anger embossed in skin too tired to resist, and they made his own face look like a stranger's. )

Boy, this is my third post today. You people must be sick of me. But I have you now, my pretties! Bwahahahahaha!

Ok, it's late and I'm tired. I'll shut up and just proceed with things.

On my drive home from work tonight my brain started writing a story. The pairing is Oz/Xander, which is extremely odd, and I think inspired by my Angstathon assignment which also involves Oz, a character I've never written before. But the muse will not be ignored even though I tried to interrupt and demand vampires, so on with the show.

I have no name for this yet, and honestly I'm not sure if it will degenerate into smut, or stay more of a friendship thing. Basically it's sometime past 'Chosen', at this point I have no plans to mention anything from the current season of Angel.
