Wishlist, gakked from [livejournal.com profile] swmbo.

Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

ETA: made this post public so I could add it to [livejournal.com profile] plotbunnymuse's Master List of Wishlists!

I had a hard time listing ten things, really. Because when it comes down to it, a lot of the things I really want (new president, move to NYC, etc.) are either up to me or currently unattainable. Nevertheless, I managed and hope it inspires you to come up with your own list.

1. I would really like everyone who can to adopt a pet from their local shelter. I hate to think of these poor animals, destined for life in a cage or death, spending their holidays alone and unloved. Don't buy a puppy or kitten, adopt a dog or cat who needs a home. I realize it's not possible for everybody and does involve an emotional and financial commitment, but if you *can* do it, the rewards are priceless.

2. I would love a long post-Chosen Spike/Xander fic where Xander is tired and angry and broken and suidical, maybe even mute, when Spike tracks him down, determined to save his life. Why? I don't know, but he's compelled and there eventually is love and forgiveness, after a lot of angst and UST. It's not a totally original premise, but I really enjoy Spike taking care of Xander.

3. This isn't a wish than can actually be granted by anyone except fate, but I am truly hoping that 2005 brings some much-deserved peace and happiness to the many people I know that struggled through 2004. It's been a rough year for a lot of my friends, both in RL and online, and it hasn't been easy for me either. As an adult the pressures and losses never seem to end, and I just want all of us to be able to find those moments in life that help us to see its beauty as well as its pain.

4. Lindt Truffles, the six-flavors-in-the-gold-bag kind, OMG. And a cappucino/espresso maker to go with them, so I could have coffee and chocolate together. Mmmmm.

5. San Francisco. I want to go there again sometime next year, it's my favourite city in the US and just thinking about visiting again makes me smile.

6. For years now I've wanted the complete Monty Python Flying Circus DVD set but OMG it's so expensive. Also, Black Books. And Jets tickets.

7. I would like to see everyone who needs it get paid LJ accounts/time/icons. I might make some of that happen myself, but join in the generosity if you can!

8. Speaking of icons, I would like a good personalized one. I have a few that someone made for me that are wonderful, but most of my icons are just copies and it would be nice to be more original. Also, an LJ layout. I've tried to figure out how they work on my own and I just can't seem to get the hang of it. My LJ is a very boring place as a result.

9. Mail. Especially now that I'm single again, the only things that come in the mail are bills and catalogs. It's so depressing. There have been a few bright spots since I made some friends here online though, please don't think I'm ungrateful!!

10. Love. ETA: It's not looking promising for the love. How about jewelry? I love handmade stuff.
